anteposition
Anteposition is a directional anatomical term describing the placement of a structure toward the front of the body, or anterior to another reference structure. The term derives from Latin ante- meaning “before” or “in front of” and positio meaning “position.”
Usage: In anatomy, radiology, and surgery, anteposition indicates that one structure lies more anteriorly than another
Examples: A structure described as anteposed may lie anterior to adjacent structures due to natural variation
Limitations: Because anteposition is relative, the reference structure must be defined to avoid ambiguity. Its meaning
