Annularising refers to the process of forming an annulus, which is a geometric shape resembling a ring or a hollow cylinder. In a two-dimensional context, an annulus is the region between two concentric circles. In three dimensions, it is the region between two coaxial cylinders.

The term is often used in mathematics and geometry to describe the creation or definition of such shapes. For instance, one might annularise a plane by removing a smaller concentric disk from a larger one, leaving the ring-shaped area. Similarly, in calculus, the volume of an annular solid can be calculated by subtracting the volume of an inner hole from the volume of an outer solid.

The concept of annularising can also appear in practical applications. In engineering, annular spaces are common, such as the gap between a drill bit and the hole it creates, or the space between two pipes where fluid may flow. The formation or consideration of these annular regions is an instance of annularising. In astronomy, an annular eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun, but its apparent size is smaller than the Sun's, leaving a bright ring of sunlight visible. This phenomenon is also a form of annularising, where one celestial body partially obscures another in a ring-like manner.
