amazónico

Amazónico is an adjective used in Spanish and Portuguese to denote origin or relation to the Amazon region or to the Amazon River. In Spanish the form is amazónico (masc.) / amazónica (fem.); in Portuguese it is amazônico (masc.) / amazônica (fem.). As a noun, it can refer to a person from the Amazon region. The term appears in geography, ecology, anthropology, and cultural discourse.

The Amazon Basin spans parts of Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. The Amazon Rainforest, or Selva Amazónica (Spanish) / Amazônia (Portuguese), is one of the planet’s most biodiverse ecosystems, covering about 5.5 million square kilometers. The Amazon River, the basin’s main watercourse, has the largest discharge of any river in the world.
