aluskoele

Aluskoele is a fictional municipality in the country of Veridia, located on the northern coast near the Veridian Sea. The name is from the local language and is commonly explained as “lower harbour.” The municipality has an area of about 38 square kilometers and a population of roughly 1,200 residents.

Geographically, Aluskoele sits at the mouth of the Lyran River, with a shoreline of rocky beaches and a hinterland of mixed forests and farmland. The economy centers on small-scale fishing, dairy farming, and light manufacturing, complemented by tourism focused on hiking and boating.

Historically, Aluskoele developed around a 15th-century lighthouse and a trading post. It was incorporated as a municipality in the 1800s and has since maintained a largely rural character, with gradual diversification in recent decades.

Governance follows a mayor–council system, with a locally elected council of seven members and a part-time mayor. The community values local crafts, especially woodcarving and lighthouse maintenance.

Demographics are predominantly Veridian-speakers, with a minority speaking a regional dialect. The village maintains a modest cultural calendar, including an annual harbor festival and a summer farmers’ market.

Notable features include the Old Lighthouse, the Saint Venera Church, and the coastal promenade. Public transport is limited to regional bus links and a seasonal ferry service.
