Akryyliliima is a family of adhesives based on acrylic polymer resins (polyacrylates). It is used to bond a wide range of materials, including wood, paper, textiles, metal, glass and some plastics. Akryyliliima can be formulated as water-based or solvent-based products, and as one-component systems or two-component systems that require mixing before use.

Curing and bonding mechanisms vary by formulation. Water-based acrylic glues typically cure by evaporation of water and film formation (coalescence) of the latex or dispersed polymer particles. Some solvent-based varieties cure as the solvent evaporates, leaving a solid film. Two-component acrylic adhesives cure through chemical cross-linking once the components are combined. Proper curing results in a clear or translucent bond that remains flexible and relatively resistant to impact.

Properties and performance depend on the specific product. Common advantages include good adhesion to porous and non-porous substrates, relatively easy handling, and clear or nearly invisible bonds when dry. Surface preparation—clean, dry, and lightly abraded surfaces—improves adhesion. Some acrylic glues offer weather resistance and UV stability, while others may have limited resistance to prolonged immersion in water or high temperatures.

Typical applications include crafts, bookbinding, packaging, mounting photographs, light construction, and assembly tasks where a clear, flexible bond is desirable. They are generally easy to apply with brushes, spatulas, or squeeze bottles and can be cleaned up with water or appropriate solvents while wet.

Safety and handling follow standard adhesive guidelines: use in well-ventilated areas, wear gloves to minimize skin contact, avoid inhalation of fumes, and store sealed in a cool, dry place away from children.
