agnostisk
Agnostisk refers to a philosophical stance that the existence of God or the divine is unknowable. An agnostic does not claim to know whether God exists, nor do they assert that God does not exist. This position is distinct from atheism, which asserts the non-existence of God, and theism, which asserts the existence of God. The term "agnosticism" was coined by T.H. Huxley in the 19th century. He defined it as the principle of applying reason to whatever problem may be before us, without a prejudged conclusion. For an agnostic, the lack of empirical evidence or logical certainty prevents a definitive belief or disbelief in supernatural matters. This does not necessarily imply a lack of spirituality or personal meaning, but rather a commitment to intellectual honesty regarding the limits of human knowledge. Agnosticism can encompass a spectrum of views, from those who believe it is impossible to know whether God exists to those who simply suspend judgment due to insufficient evidence. It is a position based on the idea that certain questions are beyond the scope of current human understanding or any possible future understanding.
