actantnetwork
Actantnetwork is a conceptual framework for representing the interactions among actants—entities that can act, influence, or be acted upon—within a network structure. It extends actant theory from semiotics and narratology into network analysis by treating actants as nodes and the actions, influences, or dependencies among them as edges. Each edge can be typed (for example, helps, hinders, communicates with, depends on) and annotated with attributes like strength, direction, or time.
The framework is used to analyze narratives, organizations, and processes where roles and interactions are central.
Implementation is flexible: researchers may construct networks from textual corpora, interview data, process logs, or sensor
Limitations include subjectivity in defining actants and edges, potential oversimplification of complex interactions, and scalability challenges
