absoluuttiseksi
Absoluuttiseksi is the translative form of the Finnish adjective absoluuttinen, meaning “absolute.” In Finnish grammar, the translative case (-ksi) expresses a change of state or turning something into another state. Therefore absoluuttiseksi conveys “to become absolute” or “into the absolute” and is used with verbs that denote becoming or transformation, such as tulla (to become) and muuttua (to change into).
The form is commonly found in formal or theoretical prose, including philosophical, political, or scientific writing,
- Päätös muuttui absoluuttiseksi totuudeksi. (The decision changed into an absolute truth.)
- Hänestä tuli absoluuttiseksi auktoriteetiksi. (He became an absolute authority.)
- Väite muuttui absoluuttiseksi periaatteeksi kirjoitetussa analyysissä. (The claim became an absolute principle in the written analysis.)
