Zündel

Zündel refers to Ernst Zündel, a German-Canadian Holocaust denier and neo-Nazi activist. Born in 1939, Zündel emigrated to Canada in 1958. He gained notoriety for his persistent and public denial of the Holocaust, the systematic genocide of six million Jews by Nazi Germany. Zündel authored numerous books and pamphlets promoting his revisionist historical claims, and operated websites and mailing lists to disseminate his views.

His activities led to several legal challenges in Canada. In 1985, he was convicted under Canada's Criminal Code for spreading false news, specifically regarding his denial of the Holocaust. This conviction was later overturned on a legal technicality. However, Zündel was subsequently recharged and convicted again in 1988. This conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court of Canada. He served time in prison for his actions.

In 2005, Zündel was deported from Canada to Germany, where Holocaust denial is a criminal offense. He was subsequently tried and convicted in Germany in 2007 for inciting racial hatred and received a five-year prison sentence. Ernst Zündel died in Germany in 2017. His legacy is primarily associated with his role as a prominent figure in international Holocaust denial movements.
