ZytologieSchnitte, a German term translating to "cytology sections" or "cytological preparations," refers to thinly sliced tissue samples examined under a microscope to study cells. This technique is a cornerstone of diagnostic pathology and research, allowing for the identification of cellular abnormalities, diseases, and biological processes.

The process typically begins with obtaining a tissue sample, which can be acquired through various methods like biopsies, surgical resections, or fine-needle aspirations. This sample is then fixed, usually in a chemical solution like formalin, to preserve its cellular structure. Following fixation, the tissue undergoes processing, which may involve dehydration and embedding in a supportive medium such as paraffin wax.
