Zernikow
Zernikow is a former municipality in the Havelland district of Brandenburg, Germany. It was located near the city of Nauen. In 2002, Zernikow was incorporated into the municipality of Nennhausen as part of a municipal reform. The area is characterized by its rural landscape, typical of the Brandenburg region. Historically, Zernikow, like many villages in this part of Germany, likely developed from a medieval settlement. Its economy was traditionally agrarian. The name Zernikow itself is of Slavic origin, suggesting early settlement by Slavic tribes in the area. The current status of Zernikow is as a locality within the municipality of Nennhausen, often referred to as a "Ortsteil". It retains its village character and serves as a residential area for some of its inhabitants. Information regarding specific historical buildings or prominent figures from Zernikow is not widely documented in general resources. The integration into Nennhausen aimed to streamline local administration and services for the residents of the surrounding villages.
