Zenerdiódáknál refers to Zener diodes in Hungarian. A Zener diode is a specialized type of diode that is designed to operate in the reverse breakdown region. Unlike regular diodes that are typically used for rectification and are damaged by reverse breakdown, Zener diodes are intentionally constructed to withstand this condition without failing.

The key characteristic of a Zener diode is its stable reverse breakdown voltage, known as the Zener voltage (Vz). When the reverse voltage across a Zener diode reaches Vz, the diode begins to conduct significant current in the reverse direction. Crucially, this current can vary over a wide range while the voltage across the diode remains remarkably constant at Vz. This property makes Zener diodes ideal for voltage regulation applications.

In a typical voltage regulator circuit, a Zener diode is placed in parallel with the load. A series resistor is used to limit the current flowing through the Zener diode. If the input voltage fluctuates, the Zener diode will draw more or less current to maintain a constant voltage across itself and the load. This ensures a stable output voltage for sensitive electronic components.

Zener diodes are available in a wide range of Zener voltages, from a few volts up to hundreds of volts. They are commonly used in power supplies, battery chargers, and as voltage references in various electronic circuits. Their ability to maintain a stable voltage under varying conditions makes them indispensable components in modern electronics.
