Ylijännitelähde

Ylijännitelähde, known in English as an overvoltage source or overvoltage generator, is an electronic circuit or device designed to produce a voltage significantly higher than its input voltage. These sources are crucial in various scientific and industrial applications where high voltage is a necessity.

The fundamental principle behind many ylijännitelähteet involves stepwise voltage multiplication. Common methods include using a cascade of capacitors and diodes, often referred to as a Cockcroft-Walton generator or a voltage multiplier circuit. In such a setup, alternating current (AC) or a pulsed DC input is rectified and charges a series of capacitors. Each stage of the cascade adds to the voltage, resulting in a much higher output.
