Yhteisperuskytkentä, also known as common-emitter configuration in English, is a fundamental circuit configuration for bipolar junction transistors (BJTs). In this setup, the emitter terminal of the transistor is common to both the input and output circuits. The input signal is applied between the base and the emitter, while the output signal is taken between the collector and the emitter. The emitter serves as the reference point for both the voltage and current signals.

This configuration is widely used because it offers significant voltage and current gain. The input impedance is relatively low, while the output impedance is moderately high. This impedance mismatch can be advantageous in certain amplification stages. The common-emitter configuration is also known for its phase inversion, meaning the output signal is 180 degrees out of phase with the input signal.
