Yatsenyuk

Arseniy Petrovych Yatsenyuk (born 1974) is a Ukrainian politician and economist who served as prime minister of Ukraine from February 2014 to April 2016. He rose to prominence during the Euromaidan protests and became a leading figure in the Batkivshchyna party, aligning with pro-European reform efforts.

As prime minister, Yatsenyuk oversaw Ukraine’s response to a severe economic crisis and the country’s shift toward European integration. His government pursued financial stabilization through international support, including negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, and implemented a program of structural reforms, austerity measures, and efforts toward decentralization and anti-corruption reforms. The tenure coincided with significant security challenges stemming from the annexation of Crimea and the war in eastern Ukraine.

After resigning in 2016, Yatsenyuk remained active in Ukrainian public life, continuing to advocate for European integration and reform while maintaining roles within Batkivshchyna and associated political coalitions. His career is characterized by a focus on economic stabilization, governance reform, and alignment with Western institutions, set against the backdrop of ongoing regional conflict and political realignment in Ukraine.
