Xenocrystal
Xenocrystal is a term used in speculative mineralogy to denote a crystalline phase that originates outside the host rock and is later incorporated into it. In geological usage, xenocrystals are crystals that preexist the formation of the surrounding rock, having been introduced by processes such as magmatic intrusion, metamorphism, or delivery by spaceborne material. In broader or fictional contexts, xenocrystals may be described as extraterrestrial crystals formed in interplanetary space and preserved when they accrete onto planetary surfaces.
Formation and identification of xenocrystals rely on a combination of evidence. They may form when foreign
