Xe134

Xe-134 is a stable isotope of the noble gas xenon (Xe) with mass number 134. It contains 54 protons and 80 neutrons in its nucleus. Xe-134 is one of the naturally occurring isotopes of xenon and accounts for roughly 10 percent of natural xenon found on Earth.

As a stable nuclide, Xe-134 does not undergo radioactive decay under normal conditions and has an effectively infinite half-life. Its stability means it remains present in atmospheric and geological xenon samples without transforming into other elements over time.

Natural xenon is a mixture of several isotopes, including Xe-134, Xe-126, Xe-128, Xe-129, Xe-130, Xe-131, Xe-132, and Xe-136, among others. The relative abundances of these isotopes, including Xe-134, are measured in mass spectrometry and used in various scientific analyses.

In research contexts, Xe-134 is considered in isotope ratio studies and in calibrating instruments that analyze xenon isotopes. While it is not the primary target of radioactive decay experiments (which often focus on unstable xenon isotopes or on Xe-136 in certain neutrino studies), its stable presence contributes to the overall isotopic composition used for environmental tracing, geochemical investigations, and detector calibration.
