Xamtanga

Xamtanga is a language of the Afroasiatic language family spoken by the Xamtanga people in northern Ethiopia. It is classified within the Cushitic branch of Afroasiatic and is part of the wider Cushitic language group spoken in the region. The language has several regional dialects, and speakers may differ in pronunciation and vocabulary across communities, though mutual intelligibility generally remains.

Geographically, Xamtanga is concentrated in the northern Ethiopian highlands, with communities in and around the Amhara region and neighboring areas.
