Währungsgeschäfte, also known as foreign exchange transactions or FX transactions, involve the exchange of one currency for another. These transactions occur in the global foreign exchange market, the largest and most liquid financial market in the world. The primary purpose of these transactions is to facilitate international trade and investment, allowing businesses and individuals to conduct economic activities across different currency zones. For instance, an importer needing to pay a foreign supplier in their local currency must buy that currency using their own. Similarly, an investor looking to purchase foreign assets will need to convert their domestic currency.
