Wineproducing is the process and industry of making wine from fermented grapes, and sometimes other fermentable fruits. It encompasses viticulture, harvest, fermentation, aging, blending, and bottling, along with marketing, distribution, and regulatory compliance. The character of the final product depends on grape variety, climate, soil, and the winemaking approach.

Viticulture involves site selection, vine growth management, pruning, irrigation, and pest control. Harvest timing influences sugar, acidity, and flavor. Fermentation converts sugars to alcohol and carbon dioxide and is commonly conducted in stainless steel or oak vessels; malolactic fermentation is used in some wines. Aging may occur in stainless steel, oak (neutral or new), or in bottle, with blending and stabilization before bottling.

Regional systems and regulations shape production. Appellations and denominations set rules on permitted grapes, yields, aging, and labeling. Production scales range from small family estates to large corporations, with distribution through wholesalers, retailers, restaurants, and direct-to-consumer channels.

Economic and cultural aspects: wine production supports agriculture-based economies, tourism, and culinary traditions. It is characterized by a wide variety of styles, from still to sparkling and from dry to sweet, and by a long history of regional heritage.

Sustainability and trends: climate change, water use, and resource management influence viticulture and winemaking. Increasing adoption of organic, biodynamic, and sustainable certifications, along with innovations in fermentation technology, aim to improve quality while reducing environmental impact.
