Willmar

Willmar is a city in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, United States. It is the county seat and largest city of Kandiyohi County. The city is located on U.S. Highway 12 and Minnesota State Highway 71. The estimated population in 2023 was 21,619.

Willmar was founded in 1870 as a station on the St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. The name "Willmar" is believed to be derived from the names of two railroad officials, William and Martin. The city quickly grew as a railroad hub and agricultural center.
