Wikiediting

Contributors typically sign in, edit in a sandbox or directly on a page, and leave brief edit summaries. Talk pages are used to discuss proposed changes and reach consensus. In contentious topics, editors may engage in longer discussions, and moderation may be required to resolve disputes or prevent abuse.

Wikis use markup languages or visual editors to format text, insert templates, and create internal links and categories. Content licensing is usually under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, with some projects using different terms or legacy licenses.

Effective wikiediting depends on a collaborative culture, reliable sourcing, and ongoing quality control. Community roles such as editors and administrators help enforce guidelines, manage vandalism, and resolve conflicts.
