Wettersatelliten, also known as weather satellites, are artificial satellites that orbit the Earth and are used to monitor weather patterns and climate. These include imagers that capture visible and infrared light to depict clouds, land, and sea surfaces, as well as sounders that measure temperature, humidity, and wind speed at different atmospheric levels. Other instruments can detect atmospheric gases, ozone distribution, and even solar activity.

The data collected by weather satellites is vital for a wide range of applications, including weather forecasting, climate monitoring, disaster management, and scientific research.
