Westfalen
Westfalen, or Westphalia, is a historical and cultural region in Germany. It lies in the western and northern parts of the modern federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen). The region is typically described as comprising the western half of NRW and includes subregions such as Münsterland in the northwest, Ostwestfalen-Lippe in the northeast, and parts of the Sauerland in the south. Its landscapes range from flat agricultural plains to rolling hills and forests, with the Teutoburg Forest forming a notable southern and eastern landscape feature.
