Wertowanie is a term used in Polish to describe the process of determining value or importance by assigning relative weights to components within a system. It is applied in various contexts where decisions or assessments depend on distinguishing the significance of different elements.

The word has its roots in the German word Wert, meaning value, and is used in professional languages to refer to valuation, scoring, or ranking. In practice, wertowanie involves translating qualitative judgments or quantitative measurements into a numerical framework that allows comparison and aggregation.

Common applications include finance and asset appraisal, where worth is estimated and compared; decision analysis and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA), where criteria are weighted to reflect their importance in a final decision; data analysis and information retrieval, where features are weighted to influence scores; and education or assessment, where different components contribute differently to an overall grade.

Methods for wertowanie vary and may be based on expert judgment, statistical techniques, or algorithmic approaches.
