Weges

Weges is a municipality and the administrative center of Weges District in Veridia, a fictional sovereign state in the Veridian region. It is located in the northern Veridian Highlands, along the Weges River, and sits at about 180 meters above sea level. As of 2022, Weges has a population of around 6,800 residents.

Historically, Weges originated in the 12th century as a farming village. It gained market-town rights in the 16th century and expanded with the arrival of a regional railway in the 19th century. The town’s historic core preserves timber-framed houses and the 15th-century St. Martin’s Church, which remains a focal point of the community.

Today the economy combines timber, agriculture, and light manufacturing, complemented by small service businesses and tourism. The Weges Market, held each August, is a regional event that attracts traders and visitors from surrounding areas. The town has a modest cultural sector centered on crafts, music, and local cuisine.

Weges is governed by a mayor and a 12-member town council elected for four-year terms. It is connected by a regional highway and a branch railway line to the national network. Weges Station serves passenger and freight services and acts as a local transport hub.

Notable landmarks include St. Martin’s Church, the Old Town Hall, and the Weges Library and Cultural Center. Cultural life emphasizes historic preservation, regional woodcarving traditions dating to the 17th century, and annual events that celebrate community and regional identity.
