WeatherForecastModel refers to computational systems designed to predict the future state of the atmosphere over a specified forecast horizon, ranging from hours to days. These models are used to estimate variables such as temperature, wind, humidity, precipitation, and atmospheric pressure across geographic regions.

Most WeatherForecastModel implementations are numerical weather prediction (NWP) systems that solve the fundamental equations of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and radiative transfer on a discretized grid. They rely on accurate initial conditions obtained through data assimilation, a process that combines observations from satellites, weather stations, radiosondes, and other sources with prior model output to produce a best estimate of the current atmosphere.
