Wanica

Wanica is a town in the South American country of Suriname, located in the Corentyne District. It is situated on the Atlantic coast of the country, approximately 120 kilometers west of the capital city of Paramaribo. Wanica is the administrative center of the Corentyne District and serves as a hub for trade and commerce in the region.

The town has a mixed population of Creoles, Javanese, and indigenous Amerindians. The economy of Wanica is primarily based on agriculture, with crops such as rice, sugarcane, and bananas being major contributors to the region's GDP. Among the attractions in and around Wanica are the Swakop Waterfalls, the Casowarie River, and the Brownsberg Nature Reserve, which are known for their natural beauty and unique flora and fauna.

To the north of Wanica is the Brown Mountains, and to the east is the Atlantic Ocean. The town experiences a tropical climate, with high temperatures and high humidity throughout the year. Wanica is a relatively small town, with a population of around 3,000 people. Despite its small size, the town plays an important role in the economy and culture of the Corentyne District.
