Wachstumschub

Wachstumschub refers to a period of rapid physical development, most commonly observed in infants and children. During these phases, babies and toddlers experience a noticeable increase in height and weight over a relatively short span of time. These growth spurts are a natural and essential part of a child's healthy development. While the exact timing can vary, they often occur around specific age milestones, though this is not a strict rule.

The physical changes associated with a Wachstumschub are not the only manifestations. Parents often observe behavioral changes in their children during these periods. These can include increased fussiness, clinginess, changes in sleep patterns such as more frequent waking or longer naps, and a significant increase in appetite. This heightened hunger is the body's way of signaling its need for extra nutrients to fuel the rapid growth.

Wachstumschübe are typically temporary, with the rapid development phase lasting a few days to a couple of weeks. Following a Wachstumschub, children may appear to have "caught up" in terms of their development, often fitting into larger clothing sizes.
