Wägeinstrumenten
Wägeinstrumenten, commonly translated as weighing instruments or scales, are devices used to measure the mass of an object. These instruments operate on various principles, but fundamentally they determine mass by comparing an unknown mass to a known mass or by measuring the force of gravity acting on the object. Historically, simple balance scales were among the earliest forms of weighing instruments. These consist of a beam pivoted at its center, with pans suspended from each end. An unknown mass placed on one pan is balanced by adding known masses to the other pan until equilibrium is reached.
Modern weighing instruments encompass a wide range of technologies. Mechanical scales often utilize springs or levers
