Võrkjuurast refers to a network root, specifically in the context of computer networks and the Domain Name System (DNS). It is the top-level domain (TLD) that forms the root of the DNS hierarchy. The concept of a network root is fundamental to how domain names are resolved across the internet.

When a user types a domain name, such as example.com, into their browser, the DNS resolution process begins. This process starts by querying a root DNS server. The management of the network root is overseen by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), an international non-profit organization. ICANN ensures the continued operation and security of the DNS, including the network root.
