Vérlemezkékre

Vérlemezkékre, also known as thrombocytes, are tiny, irregular-shaped cell fragments found in mammalian blood. They are crucial for hemostasis, the process of stopping bleeding. When a blood vessel is injured, vérlemezkékre adhere to the damaged site and aggregate to form a platelet plug, which temporarily seals the wound. They also release a variety of chemical factors that promote blood clotting, a more permanent and robust repair mechanism.

These anucleated cell fragments originate from large bone marrow cells called megakaryocytes. Megakaryocytes undergo a complex process of fragmentation, shedding off small portions of their cytoplasm, which then become circulating vérlemezkékre. A typical adult human has a circulating count of 150,000 to 450,000 vérlemezkékre per microliter of blood. Their lifespan is relatively short, usually around 7 to 10 days, after which they are cleared from circulation by the spleen and liver.

Disorders affecting vérlemezkékre can lead to significant health problems. Thrombocytopenia, a condition characterized by a low platelet count, can result in excessive bleeding. Conversely, thrombocytosis, a high platelet count, can increase the risk of blood clots forming, potentially leading to stroke or heart attack. Medical conditions and certain medications can influence platelet function and count.
