Types and materials include mechanical coverings like armor plates or shielding, chemical-resistant coatings such as epoxies and fluoropolymers, thermal or acoustic insulation wraps, and electrical insulating layers. Common materials range from metals (galvanized steel, aluminum cladding) to polymers (polyurethane, epoxy, silicone), ceramics, and composite laminates.
