Värvustasakaalu refers to the process of adjusting the colors in an image or video to achieve a natural and pleasing appearance. This is often necessary because different cameras, lighting conditions, or display devices can render colors inaccurately, leading to a color cast or an unnatural tint.

The goal of värvustasakaalu is to ensure that white objects appear white and that the overall color balance of the scene is perceived correctly by the viewer. This can be achieved through various methods, often involving the adjustment of primary color channels, such as red, green, and blue. For instance, if an image has a strong blue cast, the blue channel might be reduced, or the red and green channels might be increased to compensate.

In digital photography and videography, värvustasakaalu is a common post-processing step. Software tools allow users to select a neutral gray or white area in the image to automatically correct the color balance, or to manually adjust color temperature and tint sliders.
