Värviõnnetused

Värviõnnetused refer to unintended color transfer or staining that occurs during the laundering of textiles. This typically happens when colored items are washed with lighter colored or white fabrics. The dye from the colored item can bleed into the water and then transfer onto the lighter fabrics, causing permanent discoloration.

Factors that increase the likelihood of värviõnnetused include washing new, brightly colored items for the first time, using hot water, overloading the washing machine, and washing items made of different types of fabrics together. Certain dyes are more prone to bleeding than others, especially reds, blues, and dark colors.

Preventing värviõnnetused involves sorting laundry by color and fabric type. It is advisable to wash dark colors separately from lights and whites. For new, brightly colored items, a color catcher sheet can be used in the wash to absorb any loose dye. Washing at lower temperatures can also reduce the risk of dye bleeding. If a värviõnnetus does occur, immediate treatment may help to remove or lighten the stain, but complete removal is often difficult.
