Värjäyssykli refers to the process of dyeing textiles, a fundamental technique in the textile industry and traditional crafts. This cycle involves several stages to achieve a desired color on a fabric or yarn. The initial step is usually fabric preparation, which can include scouring to remove natural impurities like oils and waxes, and bleaching to create a uniform white base for better dye uptake.

The dyeing itself is the core of the cycle. It involves immersing the prepared material in a dye bath, a solution containing the coloring agent and other necessary chemicals like mordants, which help the dye bind to the fibers. The temperature, time, and concentration of the dye bath are critical parameters that influence the final color and its fastness. Different types of dyes exist, such as reactive dyes, direct dyes, vat dyes, and acid dyes, each suited for specific fiber types like cotton, wool, or synthetic materials.

Following the dyeing process, the material undergoes a rinsing phase to remove any unfixed dye particles.
