Väntvõllmehhanism

Väntvõllmehhanism, often translated as crankshaft mechanism, is a fundamental mechanical system used to convert rotary motion into reciprocating motion or vice versa. It consists of a crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons. The crankshaft is a rotating shaft with one or more offset throws. Each throw is connected to a piston via a connecting rod. As the crankshaft rotates, the offset throws force the connecting rods and pistons to move up and down within cylinders.

This mechanism is most commonly found in internal combustion engines, where it plays a crucial role in generating power. In an engine, the combustion of fuel within the cylinders creates pressure that pushes the pistons down. This linear motion of the pistons is then transmitted through the connecting rods to the crankshaft, causing it to rotate. This rotational energy can then be used to power vehicles, generators, and other machinery.

For example, in some pumps, a motor rotates a crankshaft, which in turn drives pistons to move back and forth, facilitating the pumping of fluids.
