Vreau

Vreau is the first-person singular present indicative form of the Romanian verb a vrea, meaning “I want.” It is a highly common verb used to express desire, intention, or a request and appears in a wide range of everyday contexts.

Etymology and related forms: a vrea originates from Latinvelle (to wish/want) and evolved through Old Romanian and Vulgar Latin into the modern Romanian verb system. Its present-tense paradigm includes eu vreau, tu vrei, el vrea, noi vrem, voi vreți, ei/ele vor, with the root changing slightly across persons and the first-person form specifically manifesting as vreau.

Usage and constructions: Vreau can govern a direct object, as in Vreau o cafea (“I want a coffee”). The construction volgen is să + present subjunctive for the subordinate clause: Vreau să fie clar.
