Vormvariasies

Vormvariasies is a term used in biology to describe observable differences in form or structure among individuals within a species or cultivar. The word combines vorm (form) and variasies (variations). Vormvariasies covers traits such as leaf shape, plant height, flower size, fruit form, shell morphology, or body segmentation. These variations arise from genetic diversity, developmental processes, and environmental influences, or their combination. Morphological variation is a form of intraspecific diversity and underlies taxonomic concepts such as varieties (varietas) and forms (forma).
