Voltímetros

Voltímetros are electrical instruments used to measure the electric potential difference, also known as voltage, between two points in an electric circuit. They are typically connected in parallel across the component or points where the voltage is to be measured. The unit of measurement for voltage is the volt, hence the name "voltímetro."

There are various types of voltímetros, including analog and digital. Analog voltímetros use a galvanometer with a needle that deflects across a calibrated scale to indicate the voltage. Digital voltímetros, on the other hand, display the voltage reading numerically on a screen, often using an analog-to-digital converter. The internal resistance of a voltímetro is a critical characteristic. To avoid significantly altering the circuit's behavior and the voltage being measured, voltímetros are designed to have a very high internal resistance. This ensures that only a very small current flows through the voltímetro itself, minimizing its impact on the circuit.
