Vollsdorf

Vollsdorf is a small municipality in the district of Seein, located in the canton of Aargau in northern Switzerland. It lies in the northern part of the canton, surrounded by agricultural fields and low forested hills. The municipality covers an area of approximately 4.7 square kilometres and is situated at an elevation of roughly 500 metres above sea level.

The earliest documented mention of Vollsdorf dates back to the 12th century, when it was recorded as part of a larger estate owned by a local abbey. Over the following centuries the village grew around a central church and a small marketplace. The 19th‑century agricultural reforms and the construction of a railway line to nearby Bülach in 1860 spurred moderate population growth and improved connectivity to larger urban centres.

In contemporary times Vollsdorf maintains a predominantly rural character, with agriculture still playing a significant role in the local economy. Many residents commute to jobs in larger towns such as Bülach, Zurich, or Baden. The municipality offers basic public services including primary education and a community centre.
