Vnitrobunné, also known as internal combustion, is a process in which a fuel is ignited within a confined space, causing a rapid expansion of gases that can be used to perform work. This process is fundamental to the operation of internal combustion engines, which are widely used in various applications, including automobiles, aircraft, and power generation.

The internal combustion process typically involves four main stages: intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust. In the intake stage, a fuel-air mixture is drawn into the engine's cylinders. During compression, the mixture is compressed, increasing its pressure and temperature. Combustion occurs when the compressed mixture is ignited by a spark plug or through compression alone, depending on the engine type. This ignition releases a large amount of energy, causing the gases to expand rapidly. The expanding gases then push on the piston, converting the energy into mechanical work during the power stroke. Finally, the exhaust gases are expelled from the cylinder in the exhaust stage.

Internal combustion engines can be classified into two main types: spark-ignition (SI) engines and compression-ignition (CI) engines. SI engines, such as those used in gasoline-powered vehicles, rely on a spark plug to ignite the fuel-air mixture. CI engines, commonly found in diesel-powered vehicles, initiate combustion through the heat generated by compressing the air alone, which then ignites the injected fuel.

The efficiency of internal combustion engines is influenced by various factors, including the design of the engine, the quality of the fuel, and the operating conditions. Advances in technology have led to the development of more efficient and environmentally friendly internal combustion engines, such as those equipped with turbochargers, variable valve timing, and advanced fuel injection systems. Despite these improvements, internal combustion engines continue to face challenges related to emissions and fuel efficiency, prompting ongoing research and development efforts to address these issues.
