Vivipaariset

Vivipaariset refers to viviparous animals, which are organisms that give birth to live young. This reproductive strategy contrasts with oviparity, where offspring develop from eggs laid by the mother. In viviparous species, the embryo develops inside the body of the parent, receiving nourishment directly from the maternal bloodstream or a specialized placenta.

This method of reproduction is common in many groups of animals, including most mammals, some reptiles like certain snakes and lizards, a few fish species such as guppies and some sharks, and a limited number of invertebrates. Viviparity offers several advantages, such as protecting the developing young from external environmental hazards and predators. It also allows for more advanced development of offspring before birth, potentially increasing their survival rate after birth. However, it requires a greater energy investment from the mother during pregnancy.
