Vitaminaviruses are a hypothetical class of biological entities that have been proposed to exist, though their existence has not been scientifically confirmed. The concept of a "vitaminavirus" suggests a microscopic agent that replicates by utilizing or manipulating host cell vitamin metabolism. Unlike conventional viruses that rely on host cell machinery to replicate their genetic material and produce viral proteins, a vitaminavirus would theoretically interact with specific vitamins or cofactors essential for cellular processes.

The proposed mechanism involves the vitaminavirus either carrying its own unique set of enzymes that interact with vitamins or inducing the host cell to produce altered vitamin-dependent enzymes. This interaction could potentially lead to either the pathogen's replication or a disruption of the host's normal metabolic functions, potentially causing disease. For instance, a vitaminavirus might hijack the production of a vitamin crucial for energy metabolism, thereby starving the host cell or redirecting resources for its own proliferation.

Research into vitaminaviruses remains largely theoretical, with no definitive evidence for their existence in nature.
