Viljelynsäteet
Viljelynsäteet, meaning "cultivation seats" or "planting seats" in English, refers to a historical agricultural practice particularly prevalent in certain parts of Northern Europe, notably Finland and Sweden. These seats were essentially small, cleared patches of land within larger forested areas that were cultivated for crops. They were not permanent fields but rather temporary clearings, often established using swidden agriculture or slash-and-burn techniques.
