Vesimassat
Vesimassat, a Finnish term, translates to "water masses" in English and refers to distinct bodies of water with relatively uniform characteristics, particularly in terms of temperature and salinity. These water masses are formed in specific oceanic regions and then spread throughout the global ocean through large-scale circulation patterns. The properties of a water mass are largely determined by the conditions at its formation site, such as the latitude, temperature, and evaporation or precipitation rates.
Oceanographers study vesimassat to understand ocean currents, heat distribution, and the transport of nutrients and gases.
The mixing and interaction of different vesimassat at their boundaries, known as thermoclines or haloclines, are
