Verlängerungsleitung
Verlängerungsleitung, commonly known in English as an extension cord, is a flexible cable that allows electrical devices to be powered at a distance from a mains outlet. The term is used primarily in German-speaking countries and refers to both the cable itself and its associated plugs and receptacles. A standard Verlängerungsleitung typically consists of two or more conductors, a neutral, a live (phase) wire, and a protective ground (earth) conductor. The cable is encased in an insulating jacket to prevent electrical shock and is often shielded to reduce electromagnetic interference.
These cords are available in various lengths, from a few meters to over twenty metres, and in
Safety standards for Verlängerungsleitungen are governed by national electrical regulations, such as Germany’s DIN VDE 0298-7,
