Verdunar

Verdunar is a coastal city and municipal seat in the fictional country of Linara, situated on the Verdun River delta. With an estimated population of about 48,000 residents, it serves as the administrative center of Verdun Province and a regional hub for commerce, culture, and education.

The city occupies low-lying terrain near a natural harbor, featuring a temperate maritime climate and moderate year-round rainfall. The harbor handles commercial shipping and fishing activity, while the surrounding countryside includes wetlands and river terraces that support local agriculture and biodiversity.

Verdunar has medieval origins, with the earliest records dating to the 12th century. It received city privileges in the late Middle Ages and expanded during the industrial era through shipbuilding, timber processing, and later light manufacturing. Major local employers include Verdunar Shipyards, a regional manufacturing complex, and Verdunar University. An international airport lies about 25 kilometers to the east, providing domestic and international flights.

Verdunar hosts cultural institutions such as the Museum of Local History, the City Theatre, and a conservatory. Verdunic is the main language, with minority communities using Eldish and regional dialects; local festivals include the Verdunar Maritime Festival and Green Week. Notable landmarks include Verdunar Cathedral, the Old Town district, the Lantern Bridge, and the Verdunar Marina. The city also serves as a gateway to nearby coastal and rural attractions.
