Veokite
Veokite is a rare aluminosilicate mineral characterized by a layered tetrahedral–octahedral framework. It was described in 2022 by a multidisciplinary team from the Alpine Geoscience Institute after specimens were collected in the Veok Valley, from which the mineral derives its name. The type locality is Veok Valley, where hydrothermal veins hosted quartz and muscovite. Veokite’s discovery added another example of complex phyllosilicate-like structures in metamorphic-hydrothermal environments.
The chemical composition of veokite is variable, but it can be represented by a simplified formula reflecting
Veokite occurs in hydrothermal veins within metamorphic terranes, frequently associated with quartz, muscovite, calcite, and enstatite.
Physical properties are variable but characteristic: pale green to gray color; white streak; vitreous luster; Mohs
