Venustaconcha

Venustaconcha is a genus of freshwater mussels belonging to the family Unionidae. These bivalve mollusks are found in rivers and streams of eastern North America. The genus is characterized by its ovate to rounded shell shape, which is typically smooth and moderately thick. The periostracum, the outer layer of the shell, can vary in color from yellowish-brown to dark brown, often with green rays.
